Drawing from Experience

I haven't had any words, so I'll start with pictures.

I started this at the beginning of the month ...

This is Jasper. He finally found a good place to be. It was a joy to get to meet him.

Another piece of the past is going away to day (the desk, not Nettie)

Capital Bean has two scratching posts, a cat tree, and billions of cat toys. This is his current favorite thing.

I finished this on the 17th.

Then I started this the next day, or maybe later that day. Branching out ...

Nettie perfecting the art of begging

Work-wise - all is excellent. I got a raise. I didn't even ask for one, but I got one, and it was flattering and tugged at the little heart fibers to know that someone appreciates me and isn't afraid to tell me.

Family-wise - I have approximately one other person in my life (here in close proximity) that appreciates me and isn't afraid to tell me. The rest of them, not so much. Every single time you think they can't do anything more fucked up than the last thing they did, the Universe is DELIGHTED to show you that they, indeed, CAN.

I'm so over trying. I really am. At some point, you have to just LET IT GO, let people do what they're going to do and be who they're going to be. There is absolutely no glory in beating your head into a squiggy pulp on the same brick wall. Heads do not dent brick, or even chip it.

My beloved has discovered that he can do what he loves to do and also let that be his source of employ. I am so proud of him for this. I'll share more next week, after he's officially started. Just know that anyone, at any time, can do something different.

I did a few arty things over on Creative Fabrica

Got the last of the pastel puke out of my hair ...

And moved directly into spidey senses

I made a shirt for my son because I called him this, and he was tickled:

As for every other thing, it is what it is. I lose and gain the same 4-5 pounds seemingly weekly. Whatever. We ordered Factor meals again for a bit, just to change up the monotony. I must tell you that the Keto Buffalo Chicken is THE BOMB, and my husband says the Chicken Mushroom Tetrazzini is equally BOMB. Since I will more than likely never be an affiliate nor will they sponsor me, I can tell you, get a few boxes, then cancel. They will offer you UNBELIEVABLE savings when you leave. Wait it out. Last offer I got was $1.99 per meal, but then I didn't use it right away, so we ended up paying $2.66-ish per meal, which still is exceptional given their normal sticker price. Well worth the wait.

In other news, I am renovating the home workspace/office/gymnauseum. It is time. I sold the desk (see above). I have two workstations, and they really needed some flow, so I bought an L-shaped monstrosity and a new double-wide filing cabinet/bookshelf, and a new rug. Going to flip the layout around, and then turn the rest of the room (in the past, it was a two-car garage) will become gym central. There is so much space out here that is going to waste, and it's time. I know damned well I won't go to the gym if I get a gym membership, so I'm making the gym come to me.

Don't get me wrong, I like my desk. It was my dad's desk. But I am done hanging on to the past. Someone else will make much better use of it than I did.

Oh, and lest I forgot to mention, got rid of a HUGE part of the past a few weeks back. My piano. It's gone. Never coming back. It was a source of escape for me when I was young - playing the piano. Megan played it sporadically over the years, but then it just turned into a trinket holder. I did try to get it out of here before the last resort, but when the trash service offers $30 pickup/haulaway/destroy, you can't beat that.

I don't miss it.

Still have the bench because we forgot to take it out, and it's buried in my room with all the boxes, but now we have my son's room completely emptied and ready for a rehaul. Not sure what to do yet, but it's ready for a change.

THAT all being said, I'm ready to get some shit done. Rather than sitting here talking about what I want to do, I'm gonna go do it.

Have a lovely weekend!

Renovation, Risk Assessment, Building Stuff and Testing My Ability to Cope with Stress

Many days later ... Still not a lot to talk about. Just been doing things.  Got rid of this, finally, and moved the chairs behind it out to...
